TACTIC Clinic for Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer

A collaboration of the University of Colorado Hospital and The Children's Hospital

The TACTIC Clinic is for adult survivors of pediatric cancer.

If you had cancer as a child, you may still be seeing your pediatric oncologist for follow up, and your primary care provider may not know much about the late-developing health issues that could be related to the type of treatment you had.

Together, the University of Colorado Cancer Center, University of Colorado Hospital and The Children's Hospital have created the nation's first clinic for adults like you. As part of our cancer survivorship program, we want to offer you a unique health care experience that can help you thrive years after your cancer treatment is complete.

We call it the TACTIC Clinic:

"Thriving After Cancer Treatment is Complete"

When you come to your appointment at the TACTIC Clinic, you'll see three health-care experts:

  • An internist, who will give you a complete physical, take an in-depth family history, and answer questions about your current health concerns
  • A pediatric onocologist, who will help you understand the possible "late effects" related to the cancer treatment you received as a child
  • A trained cancer counselor, who will discuss any psychosocial needs you may have

At the end, you will leave with a comprehensive health evaluation, and a plan for addressing any current issues through referrals to adult specialists who have extra training in the late effects of cancer.

And you'll have a better idea of how to keep yourself healthy as a cancer survivor. You'll also leave with a health passport, a laminated card that covers your cancer treatment, possible late-effects and other health information.
