Dear Alumnae et Alumni,

University of Colorado Hospital is growing to add patient beds and double the capacity of our emergency department. Like many emergency departments, we care for people who present with chronic ills and the day-to-day challenge of simply being.

We are also growing organizationally. We are now a part of University of Colorado Health System. We share this name with Poudre Valley Health System, as well as the vision and responsibility to provide the best health care for Colorado in the midst of a changing health care environment.

A number of you were chaplain residents or externs when we moved from 9th Avenue to the Anschutz Medical Campus. You know how change can challenge the spirit. We appreciate the contributions you made to our learning as we changed then and we appreciate your prayers and support as we change today and prepare for tomorrow. I’m prompted to remember a quote from Maya Lin: “For the most part things never get built the way they were drawn.”

It's summer, time again for vacations and wrapping up the end of another residency year. Travel safely; send a postcard. Let us know where you are, what you’re doing, and what brings you joy. Keep in touch. Donate your used books. And remember,

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand … and thy right hand shall save me. Psalm 138:7
