Request to Photograph or Film at University of Colorado Hospital

Any requests to photograph or film activities, surgeries, patients or buildings at any University of Colorado Hospital facility must be approved. Please note that permission is not automatically granted for educational filming, even for the schools of the health sciences center.

To obtain permission, send a written request (e-mail is acceptable) to one of the following:

  • For media filming, contact Tonya Ewers, News Media Specialist
  • For all other filming, contact Angela Lieurance, vice president of Development and Marketing

News media requests should be sent to Erika Matich (Erika.Matich@ucdenver.edu), media relations coordinator for University of Colorado Hospital.

All other requests go to Bill Sonn ( william.sonn@uch.edu), marketing director at University of Colorado Hospital.

Requests for filming must be made in writing (e-mail is OK) and include:

  • Purpose of the film
  • Intended audience
  • Preferred date(s) of filming
  • Subject matter
  • Who will be filmed
  • Name of supervisor(s) who are willing to have the filming take place in the department(s)
  • Name of the University of Colorado Hospital employee who will be with the camera(s) at all times
  • An e-mail and phone number for the person making the request

Please allow several days for response to request. Approval will be granted in writing via e-mail.

Request to Film: Important Notes

  • In order for approval to be granted, a University of Colorado Hospital employee must agree to be with the camera(s) at all times. University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center and University Physicians, Inc. employees cannot serve in this role.
  • If patients are to be filmed, a consent form must be signed and a copy placed in the patient file.
  • If employees of the University of Colorado Hospital are to be filmed, a photographic consent form must be obtained.
