Obesity Control Research and Programs

The University of Colorado Center for Human Nutrition  is a national center of excellence in studies of obesity prevention and control. Dr. James Hill, the Center Director, is a national leader in obesity prevention, having implemented Colorado on the Move, and now America on the Move. Various clinical trials, community service projects, and innovative approaches involving community design and telephone outreach are being tested, including trial of weight loss in breast cancer survivors. Skin Cancer Prevention Research

An ongoing trial to improve sun protection counseling by physicians and a longitudinal study of the natural history of sunburns and mole development is underway. (PILori Crane, funded by NCI)

Training in Cancer Preventive Medicine

Each year one of the new residents in Preventive Medicine specializes in cancer control in his/her training and work. This contributes to professional medical expertise continuing to enter the field of cancer control research. (PI Tim Byers, funded by ACS)
