Program Details
Our one-year, nationally-recognized Post-Baccalaureate Nurse Residency Program is comprised of:
- Extensive (12 to 24 weeks) precepted experience on the graduate nurses' clinical unit.
- Paid specialty courses designed for your specific unit that occur throughout the first year. The number of hours spent in these classes varies depending on the unit, and these classes are built into your 36 hour work week.
- Paid monthly Graduate Nurse Support Series meetings designed to provide additional curriculum and to support the graduate nurse as you transition from student to competent professional nurse.
Our program is facilitated by expert nurses with special emphasis on:
- Critical thinking skills
- Leadership abilities
- Communication skills, written and verbal
- Research-based practice
- Patient safety
- Professional career development

Application Information for October 2010 Program
In order to be considered, all parts of the application must be received by Human Resources by the application deadline. The application deadline for the October 2010 Program is Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 5:00pm MST. Faxed or email applications must be submitted prior to this deadline. Mailed applications must be post-marked by this date.
Applicant Eligibility
- Graduated within the past six months from the program start date from an accredited nursing baccalaureate program (BSN). Unfortunately, we are not able to consider applicants who have graduated more than 6 months from the start of the program. Please see FAQs for more information.
Candidates graduating from an Associates Degree-to-BSN or LPN-to-BSN are not eligible to apply to our Graduate Nurse Residency Program.
- Must not have held or currently hold a nursing position since graduation.
- In order to be considered for a Graduate Nurse position in the Adult Critical Care (ICUs), a candidate must have completed either a "paid" (CNA, Nurse Intern, etc.) or a "non-paid" (Senior Practicum, Externship, etc.) position in adult critical care.
- In order to be considered for a Graduate Nurse position in the Emergency Department (ED), a candidate must have completed either a "paid" (EMT, CNA, Nurse Intern, etc.) or a "non-paid" (Senior Practicum, Externship, etc.) position in the ED.
Neonatal ICU (NICU), Pediatric Critical Care, and/or Emergency Department (ED) experience is not considered adult critical care.

For consideration, please submit all five application components. It is highly encouraged for applications to be submitted together (for example: send one email with resume, supplemental application, and unofficial transcripts).
- Online Application: Please apply on the Current Job Opportunities web site under the "Nursing-New Graduate Program" category.
- Resume: Please email, fax or mail your resume. You may include your resume on your online application, in addition to sending it through email, fax or mail.
- UPDATED Supplemental Application Word: Please complete this document and return either by fax, email, or mail.
- Unofficial Transcripts: Please submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts by fax, email or mail. We only need copies of transcripts from the school you obtained or will obtain your BSN.
- UPDATED Clinical Evaluation Word PDF: Please have your most recent clinical instructor email complete this form and return return either by fax, email, or mail. This part of the application does not need to be submited with your resume, supplemental application, and unofficial transcripts.

Reminders
- If possible, please submit all the parts of your application together. This will prevent parts from becoming separated.
- Please put your name on each page of your application including e-mail attachements and faxes.
- When emailing your application, please use your name (and only your name) in the subject line.
- Due to the number of applications, HR is unable to confirm receipt of your application.
- It is highly discouraged for applicants to approach hiring managers directly in regards to Residency openings. All applications must go through Human Resources.

Interviewing
After applications have been closed & reviewed, a Recruiter will contact selected applicants by email to schedule an interview. Applicants will not be contacted for an interview until after the application closing deadline. The tentative dates for applicants to be contacted via email if selected for an interview will be early September.
In-person interviews for the October 2010 program will begin on or about September 7, 2010. Interviews will be scheduled through the end of September. It is expected that applicants to the program who reside outside of Denver may be required to come to the Hospital for an in-person interview with an interview team at their own expense.
All candidates who apply will be notified by email once the positions have been filled around October 1, 2010.
Offers
Offers are contingent and are not considered official until the following items are received:
- Final, "official" transcripts from your school with BSN graduation date
- Current American Heart Association BLS card
- Passing a post-offer, pre-employment health screen and completion of Hospital background check
- Successful completion of the NCLEX exam
- Colorado RN Licensure or RN licensure from NLC state (more information on RN licensure below) before the program start date. Candidates are highly encouraged to apply for an Colorado licensure when they apply to take the NCLEX. Endorsements from outside Colorado are highly discouraged because they can take over a month. Candidates for the October 2010 program are required to take the NCLEX prior to September 30, 2010.
Colorado (or compact state) RN licensure must be verified by October 15, 2010.
