Miriam Lindrooth, MD received her medical degree in 1998 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 2001 and she is Board Certified in Family Practice.
Dr Lindrooth has a lifelong experience of applying her heart, mind and soul to education and community health outreach. Her path to a medical career is marbled with associated volunteer work and outdoor leadership. She has the unique experience of donating her time at Mwandi Christian Hospital in Zambia, Africa to install electricity to a remote village hospital. At that time, she also assisted in public health outreach to the villagers.
She has training from the National Outdoor Leadership School and Stonehenge Open Learning Opportunities. She has led a life of public service assisting in soup kitchens, rural health outreach programs and teaching high school students about community projects. She has even served as a wilderness ranger in a teepee along the Gunnison River.
Dr. Lindrooth was in private practice in Charleston, South Carolina from 2002-2005 and then joined the faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) from 2005-2009. While at MUSC she served as the Medical Director of the Department of Family Medicine, providing care to her own patients, while also working with very closely with the medical students, interns and residents in the MUSC Residency program.
Dr. Lindrooth moved to Denver, Colorado in August 2009. She accepted a faculty position with the Department of Family Medicine at University of Colorado Denver Health Sciences Center and she officially started in the WISH Clinic on October 1, 2009. She is an exceptional physician and she will truly enhance the care offered in the WISH Clinic. Her clinical interests include women's health, preventive care and chronic disease management.
