Your Seniors’ Health Medical Team at University of Colorado Hospital
Numerous members of the University of Colorado Hospital medical team have education and training in caring for seniors. As a senior at least 70 years old or older, you may work with any of the specialists listed below.
Seniors’ Health Specialists
Geriatricians – doctors who specialize in the care of older adults.
Geriatric nurse practitioner (NP) – a registered nurse who has completed an advanced degree, and has special training in caring for older adults. NPs are licensed to see patients for assessment, treatment and follow-up.
Registered nurses (RN) – have graduated from a formal nursing education program and are licensed by the state of Colorado.
Geropsychologist – a psychologist with special knowledge, skill, training and experience related to the aging process and in dealing with older adults and the issues that affect them.
Pharmacist – has a doctorate degree in the science of medication.
Other Seniors’ Health Staff
Social workers – provide the resources for people to get the help they need, by assessing all aspects of their life and culture.
