The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at University of Colorado is one of the top NICU’s in the region. We are committed to a multidisciplinary approach, patient- and family-centered care and high nursing staffing standards to provide the best possible medical care and outcomes for every baby in our nursery.

The NICU is a Level 3B designated nursery that provides care for babies who:

  • Are born between 23 and 42 weeks
  • Weigh less than four pounds
  • Need respiratory support
  • Need cardio-respiratory (heart-lung) monitoring and frequent physical assessment
  • Need IV medication
  • Have had surgery or need surgery
