"The Pink Life Saver"
Mobile mammography from UCH
Too often, a woman's busy schedule makes it hard to keep a mammogram appointment. In fact, the American Cancer Society cites the top two reasons women give for not getting a mammogram are time and convenience.
The Pink Life Saver, University of Colorado Hospital's "mobile mammography" coach, aims to change that by bringing the often life-saving benefits of mammography to time-saving, convenient locations around the Denver area.
The Pink Life Saver is the only coach west of the Mississippi river to offer 3-D mammograms (no upcharge) as the standard of care, resulting in fewer false positives and fewer unnecessary biopsies.

What is the Pink Life Saver?
The Pink Life Saver is a mobile mammography coach that travels to different locations in the metro Denver area. It's equipped with the latest digital imaging technology, ensuring the highest level of diagnostic accuracy.
Funding for the Pink Life Saver came from UCH's "Men for the Cure" event, an annual fundraiser held by the University of Colorado Hospital Foundation, and King Soopers.
How do I make an appointment?
Making a mammogram appointment on The Pink Life Saver is easy - just call (720) 848-1030.
Do I need a prescription for a mammogram?
Is there a fee?
Most insurance plans don't charge for screening exams. University of Colorado Hospital will bill your insurance accordingly.
Which women can't get mammograms on the Pink Life Saver?
Due to hospital guidelines, the Pink Life Saver is unable to provide mammograms to these women:
- Those diagnosed with breast cancer within the past two years
- Women undergoing treatment for breast cancer

- Women who are breast feeding or who have breast fed in the last 6 months
- Those with no health insurance

Rolling to a clinic near you . . .
Soon the Pink Life Saver will be making stops at UCH family and internal medicine clinics, as well as to select King Soopers locations that offer primary health care through "The Little Clinic" network.
An idea that went mobile
In October 2012 the hospital's award-winning e-newsletter, UCH Insider, ran a story about the creation of this "mobile mammography coach."
