Emergency Services at University of Colorado Hospital

The Emergency Department at University of Colorado Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center. This means we are set up to either treat or stabilize all emergency conditions. Our ER is staffed by doctors and nurses who are highly trained to treat the most serious illnesses and conditions such as:

• Broken bones
• Burns
• Chest pain and heart attacks
• Conditions related to diabetes
• Detached limbs
• Emergencies related to pregnancy
• Excessive bleeding
• Serious or multiple injuries from a car wreck
• Serious or multiple injuries from a high fall
• Shortness of breath
• Snakebites
• Stroke 

Patients with more severe conditions are stabilized and transported to a Level I Trauma Center. We also stabilize and transfer children who are under 12-years-old or who weigh less than 88 pounds.

When to Go To the Emergency Room at University of Colorado Hospital

If you have any condition you believe will harm you if you don’t see a doctor within 12-24 hours, you should go to the Emergency Room.
