University of Colorado Hospital provides services, resources, education and research to treat tinnitus and/or refer patients for treatment of its underlying cause.
Tinnitus ("TIN-a-tus" or "Tin-EYE-tus") is the perception of sound in the head when no outside sound is present. The most typical sensation is "ringing in the ears."
Mild tinnitus is a bearable annoyance. However, more pronounced tinnitus that requires medical attention affects about 10 percent to 15 percent of adults in the U.S.
