Your Medical Team for Diabetes at University of Colorado Hospital

Our program uses a team approach to provide you with the care and support you need to successfully manage your diabetes.

Diabetes Specialists

Endocrinologist – a doctor who specializes in the body's hormone activity. An endocrinologist will determine your insulin need based on your blood glucose (blood sugar) levels.

Registered Nurse – a fully qualified nurse. Our nurses are specifically trained in the care of diabetes patients and teach patients to perform home testing and help address various medical concerns.

Other Diabetes Staff

Certified Diabetes Educator – a professional trained in diabetes management. Our educators will help you develop an individual plan to assist you in meeting your diabetes management goals. They also teach various classes regarding healthy diet, wellness and treatment options.

Registered Dietician – a professional trained to prevent and treat disease through the use of individual nutrients found in food and supplements. You will work with the dietician to create a meal and snack plan that works with your insulin schedule.

Social Worker – provides emotional support and assistance with a variety of family concerns and other services as needed. Please let us know if you feel you need this type of assistance.
