Survival Rates at the University of Colorado Cancer Center
We compare our patients’ survival rates for common cancer types to those of the State of Colorado as a whole, and in some cases, the Rocky Mountain region. More of our patients are still surviving at the five-year mark than those from other Colorado programs.
A report published by Cancer Center researcher Rebecca Sedjo, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow, and Tim Byers, MD, deputy director of the University of Colorado Cancer Center, in November 2007 in an American Cancer Society journal shows that cancer incidence decreased by 8 percent between 1992 and 2004.
“There’s no doubt that we are beating cancer,” Dr. Byers said. “There’s obviously still work to be done but this research proves we are making significant progress.”
