A Randomized Trial To Prevent Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

The purpose of the CMV study is to identify, with a first trimester blood screening, those women infected with CMV for the first time in pregnancy. Additionally, the CMV study hopes to find out if giving CMV antibodies (i.e. substances that target and help the immune system destroy the CMV) to pregnant women who have been infected with CMV for the first time during pregnancy will result in fewer fetuses being infected with CMV.
