SPARX is a research study comparing no exercise to moderate or vigorous levels of aerobic exercise. The goal of this research is to learn what exercise guidelines should be used in the future for people with Parkinson’s disease.
To take part in this research study, you must:
- Be between 40 and 80 years old
- Have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease no more than 5 years ago
- Not currently be taking any Parkinson’s disease medication
- Not expecting to start medication within the next 6 months
- Be able and willing to do aerobic exercise on a treadmill
- Be able to travel to the Anschutz Medical Camus for study related visits
Participants will receive information regarding their health status at no cost. This may include:
- Physical examination
- Blood test
- ECG
- Fitness test
- Exercise prescription
