Why Choose the University of Colorado Cancer Center for Lung and Chest Cancer Treatment?

We’re the Region’s NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center

The University of Colorado Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Rocky Mountain Region—and one of only 39 in the United States.

This designation means that we are recognized as leaders in providing outstanding cancer care and cancer-related education, and in driving new research. No other cancer center in the region offers the expertise we do.

We specialize in lung and chest cancers

"Having just been diagnosed with lung cancer, and of course, very nervous, I found the staff very nice and understanding and very willing to answer any question."

Sara P.

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types. Because we are sub-specialized in lung and chest cancers, we have expertise in treating not only the most common but also the rarest types of cancer.

  • Our Thoracic Oncology team is a highly successful multidisciplinary clinical group that includes outstanding thoracic surgeons, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists
  • We specialize only in the treatment of lung cancer and other cancers of the chest
  • We are supported by world experts in the microscopic classification of lung and chest cancers and experts in the interpretation of X-rays, CTs, PET/CTs and other scans
  • The team meets once a week to discuss all new and complex cases. We develop a plan and then work together to get the best possible result for each patient’s cancer
  • We are a nationally recognized center for second opinions on lung cancer and other cancers of the chest
  • We have lead many significant breakthroughs in the treatment of lung cancer
  • We have access to many new treatments, including the latest drugs and vaccines for treating lung and other cancers of the chest, through our involvement in clinical trials

We’re Part of a Larger Collaborative Team

In addition to reviewing information from outside doctors, all our doctors can:

We Offer Access to Complementary and Alternative Medicine
