Stomach Cancer Treatment at the University of Colorado Cancer Center

The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 21,260 new cases of stomach (gastric) cancer in the United States in 2007. The number of cases has dropped over the years. Doctors think this happened because people eat fewer salted and smoked foods because of food refrigeration, and because of the use of antibiotics, which may kill the h. pylori bacteria that may cause some gastric cancers.

Most gastric cancer starts in the mucosal layer that lines the stomach.

We Specialize in Stomach Cancer

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types. Because we are sub-specialized in cancers of the gastrointestinal system, we have treated the most common and the rarest types of cancer.

We’re the Region’s Only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
