Liver Cancer Treatment at the University of Colorado Cancer Center

Your liver is one of the biggest organs in your body. Your liver filters toxins from your blood, makes bile to digest fats from food, and stores glycogen - your primary energy source.

An estimated 19,160 new cases of liver and intrahepatic bile duct cancer (cancer that forms in the liver from the small ducts or tubes that pass bile from the liver) will be diagnosed in the United States during 2007. There are two types of liver cancer:

  • Primary liver cancer forms in the liver tissues
  • Secondary liver cancer spreads to the liver from another part of the body

We Specialize in Liver Cancer

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types. Because we are sub-specialized in cancers of the gastrointestinal system, we have treated the most common and the rarest types of cancer.
