Anal Cancer Treatment at the University of Colorado Cancer Center

Anal cancer occurs when cancer cells form in the tissues of the anus. Anal cancer is fairly rare compared to cancer of the colon or rectum. In 2007 an estimated 4,650 new cases of anal cancer will be diagnosed in the United States.

Anal cancer is one of the few cancers in which a combination of radiation and chemotherapy can cure the majority of patients (depending on the cancer stage) without surgery.

We Specialize in Anal Cancer

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types. Because we are sub-specialized in cancers of the gastrointestinal system, we have treated the most common and the rarest types of cancer.
