Nurse Navigator for Breast Cancer Patients

A woman diagnosed with breast cancer can be overwhelmed by the emotions and decisions surrounding such news. With this in mind, the Diane O'Connor Thompson Breast Center at University of Colorado Hospital offers the services of our "nurse navigator" to breast cancer patients.

Your personal guide and advocate

Carol Emberley, RN, will
guide you through the many
aspects of your treatment.

Charge nurse Carol Emberley, RN, BSN, has worked at University of Colorado Hospital for 25 years, and in the UCH Breast Center since its inception in 1991. As nurse navigator, Carol is the primary contact for breast cancer patients as they enter the system.

Carol brings to her role as nurse navigator many years of experience, as well as a gift for communicating with clarity and empathy. She is there to answer your questions and schedule your first appointment. She will meet you and personally introduce you to the expert team of physicians and nurses who will develop a specific treatment plan for you. She explains unfamiliar terms and concepts, and she helps you understand and take advantage of the many resources available to you at the hospital.
