Why Choose the University of Colorado Cancer Center for Bone Cancer Treatment?

We Specialize in Bone Cancers

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types.

  • Our bone cancer program is one of only two in the region that specialize in treatment adults with bone cancer. Our colleagues at The Children’s Hospital treat pediatric bone cancers.
  • Bennie Lindeque, MD, PhD, head of orthopedic oncology and an orthopedic surgeon, is a nationally recognized expert in treating bone tumors, bone infections and soft tissue sarcomas. He has experience treating hundreds of people each year.
  • Anthony Elias, MD, a medical oncologist who specializes in sarcoma, is also the Cancer Center’s Associate Director for Clinical Research. He is passionate about making as many developing treatments available to patients as is feasible.

Because we are sub-specialized in cancers of the bones and joints, we have treated the most common and the rarest types of cancer.

  • Our team is a highly successful multidisciplinary clinical group that includes outstanding surgeons, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists
  • We specialize only in the treatment of bone cancers
  • We are supported by world experts in the microscopic classification of GI cancers and experts in the interpretation of X-rays, CTs, PET/CTs and other scans-UCCC pathologists
  • We offer second opinions on bone cancers
  • We are at the leading edge of developing new and promising treatments for bone cancer. Dr. Lindeque’s research includes:
    • Improving treatment of cartilage tumors
    • Determining better methods of limb salvage surgery
    • Developing bacterial profiles of patients to detect sources of infections

We’re the Region’s Only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
