Why Choose the University of Colorado Cancer Center Blood Cancer and Bone Marrow Transplant Program?
While most of the centers in the country have separate hematologic malignancies—leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma— and bone marrow transplant programs, our programs are combined. That means:
- Your treatment team members will be the same from your initial appointment and evaluation through your entire course of treatment (which may or may not include transplant) and post-treatment care.
- You will experience excellent continuity of care for your illness.
We Specialize in Blood Cancers and Bone Marrow Transplants
Our dedicated team of doctors, nurses and other staff specialize in only in blood cancers and blood and marrow transplantation. Our multidisciplinary team reviews your test results and plans the best approach to your care at our weekly tumor board meeting.
- We are supported by world experts in the microscopic classification of GI cancers and experts in the interpretation of X-rays, CTs, PET/CTs and other scans—UCCC pathologists.
- We offer second opinions on blood cancers.
- We have access to many new treatments, including the latest drugs and vaccines for treating blood cancers, through our involvement in clinical trials.
For transplant patients, we also have specially designed inpatient and outpatient facilities that provide the safest protection for people with weakened immune systems. Pediatric patients are treated in similar facilities at The Children’s Hospital.
We are an Accredited Bone Marrow Transplantation Center
We are accredited by the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). That means our bone marrow transplantation program meets rigorous standards, as defined by world experts in the field and governmental regulations.
