What is Blood Cancer?

Blood cancers, also called hematologic malignancies, are cancers of the blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes. Types of blood cancer include:

• Leukemia – acute lymphocytic (lymphoblastic) leukemia (ALL), acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), chronic myelogenous leukemia (AML), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS)
• Lymphoma – Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, including slow-and fast-growing lymphomas, B-cell and T-cell lymphomas, and lymphomas of the central nervous system
• Myeloma – multiple myeloma and amyloidosis
