Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Treatment at the University of Colorado Cancer Center
Lymphomas are cancers that result when a lymphocyte (a type of white blood cell in the lymphoid system) undergoes a malignant change and multiplies. This change crowds out healthy cells and creates tumors in the lymph nodes and/or other parts of the immune system like the skin or other organs.
Non-Hodgkin lymphomas are one of many cancers of the immune system. They can occur at any age and are often marked by enlarged lymph nodes, fever and weight loss. There are many different types, including:
- Fast-growing
- Slow-growing
- B-cell
- T-cell
- Central nervous system
About 63,190 people living in the United States will be diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2007.
We Specialize in Blood Cancers
There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types. Because we are sub-specialized in blood cancers, including lymphomas, leukemia and multiple myelomas, we have treated the most common and the rarest types of cancer.
