Amyloidosis Treatment at the University of Colorado Cancer Center

Amyloidosis can be a symptom of myeloma (secondary) or it can be primary, with no evidence of myeloma.

  • Amyloidosis is a group of diseases in which one or more organ systems in the body accumulate deposits of abnormal proteins known as amyloid
  • Although amyloidosis is not cancer, it is a blood disorder that can be disabling or life threatening
  • The most common organs affected are the kidney, heart, liver and autonomic or peripheral nerves
  • About 1,200 to 3,200 new Amyloidosis cases are diagnosed nationwide each year.

We Specialize in Blood Cancers

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types. Because we are sub-specialized in blood cancers, including lymphomas, leukemia and multiple myelomas, we have treated the most common and the rarest types of cancer.
