Your Medical Team for Epilepsy at University of Colorado Hospital

A multidisciplinary team of health care providers may be involved in treatment of epilepsy. A neurologist, a doctor who specializes in the brain and nervous system will primarily be involved in diagnosis and treatment though specialists referred to as epileptologists may be included.

Epilepsy Specialists

Neurologist – A doctor who specializes in the brain and nervous system.

Epileptologist – A doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating epilepsy and other neurological disorders.

Neuropsychologist – A psychologist who specializes in studying brain behavior relationships.

Neuropsychiatrist – A doctor who treats people with combined psychiatric illnesses and neurologic conditions.

Other Epilepsy Staff

In addition, a nutritionist may work with you to develop a special diet and nurses will be involved in your treatment. For psychological treatment, psychologists, counselors and social workers may be involved.
