Residential Extended Care at CeDAR

Research proves that extended care beyond primary treatment greatly increases the rate of successful recovery. Much of these data suggest 90 total days is most effective. At CeDAR, our Residential Extended Care program is designed to help firmly root the seeds of recovery planted during the initial 30 days of primary treatment. The program is a 60-day minimum stay available to individuals age 24 and older who have successfully completed an approved residential program (CeDAR or others). Residents are involved in active therapy Monday to Friday. On weekends, there is structured but less intense therapy.
CeDAR’s structured care program
An individually customized treatment plan established with a primary counselor to identify needs and goals for achieving an addiction-free lifestyle.Together, the individual and staff will:
• Establish long-term recovery and relapse prevention goals
• Identify self-defeating or compulsive behaviors
• Begin the transition back to the community by further developing the tools of recovery learned in the primary care setting.
The program includes daily lectures, groups and patient-facilitated activities. In addition, residents begin to develop outside connections in the recovery community through mandatory 12-Step meetings on and off campus.
Continuing Recovery Work at Colonel’s Row
After the initial 60-day stay, individuals may choose to continue in the program at Colonel’s Row for increments of 30 days (to a maximum of 180 days). During this period, participants:
• Spend progressively fewer hours in a direct treatment environment and earn more independent living time and greater latitude with passes, visitors and personal decisions as approved by the primary counselor
• Meet with their primary counselor on a weekly basis to review progress and recovery goals and work with their sponsor as part of a daily 12-Step program
• Continue their reintegration into society by solidifying sobriety and recovery plans and becoming more independent
• Begin or continue their employment and do volunteer work or pursue educational opportunities.
