CeDAR Family Program
Addiction is a Family Disease
Addiction robs family members of their true identity, creates behaviors that are dysfunctional and destroys relationships. Family members often blame themselves or try to control an addict’s behavior but only the addict can save him or herself. Learning how to support recovery or detach with love is a skill that requires education, support and motivation.
Our Family Week program educates family members about the disease of addiction, how to care for themselves and ultimately how to support their loved one in the recovery process.
When learned addictive behaviors are transformed into healthy recovery behaviors, feelings change and new character traits are developed. The healing process of having the entire family system in recovery helps ensure positive outcomes for everyone.
