What is Drug Addiction?

Millions of people in the U.S. are affected with long term dependency and/or addictions to alcohol and other drugs including illegal drugs, over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs. Drug use and abuse touches the lives of every individual, family members, friends, co-workers and society as a whole.

  • Deaths from excessive drug use have doubled since the early 1980s. Two of the leading causes of all drug-related deaths are AIDS and Hepatitis C which is contracted through exposure to infected bodily fluids and sharing needles.
