Primary Care at University of Colorado Hospital
Your primary care provider ("PCP") plays a crucial role in making sure you get prompt, suitable, and effective treatment.
Your "point person" for treatment
Having a PCP means you have a "point person" into the health care system. Your PCP knows your medical history. He or she is well-positioned to suggest the best treatment for you, which may or may not involve a hospital or clinic visit.
Persons without a PCP may be more likely to seek treatment inappropriately at the emergency room or from a health care practitioner they don't know—and who doesn't know them.
Choosing your primary care provider
Not surprisingly, electing a primary care provider is one of the most important health care decisions you will make. Some of the factors you might consider are office proximity, gender, and whether the provider belongs to your insurance network.
What makes the primary care providers at UCH different? They're are also faculty members at the nationally renowned University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. That means they teach - and often lead - the latest in medical advances, and are often the first to bring new treatments and even ways of delivering care to the exam room.
And the internal medicine and family medicine physicians of our hospital do it with an open ear in a comfortable clinic environment close to your home or office.
