Bariatric Surgery Seminar
This class is designed for registered nurses and other healthcare providers who care for Bariatric surgery patients. Sensitivity training, explanations of various surgical approaches, dietary needs, and nursing considerations from pre-op to discharge will be discussed during the course of this informative class.
Overall Course Objectives:
- Explain the various Bariatric surgical procedures.
- Discuss the nursing considerations of the Bariatric surgery patient.
Surgical Considerations of the Bariatric Patient
- Sensitivity Training
- Surgical Options
Nursing Care and Considerations
- Nursing considerations during pre-operative, operative, and post-operative phases.
- Plan of Care for Bariatric Surgery patients
Nutritional Support and Management
- Specific needs for gastric bypass, adjustable lap band, and sleeve gastrectomy patients.
- How and when to advance the diet properly
Questions and Evaluations
Continuing Education Credit:
3.75 continuing education contact hours will be awarded to nurses who attend this program in its entirety and complete the course evaluation.

Parking at the Anschutz Medical Campus is by fee or by permit only. Parking for this activity is available in the Ignacio, Georgetown, or Cheyenne Wells parking lots. All are indicated with a red X on the attached map. Cash/Coin/Credit Card accepted. Handicapped visitor parking is also available.
