The 12 Lead EKG
The 12-Lead EKG is frequently ordered as part of the cardiovascular assessment of a patient. The purpose of this one-day course is to assist the registered nurse and other healthcare providers in understanding and interpreting the 12-Lead EKG and the changes often seen on it.
Prerequisite: Knowledge of Basic Dysrhythmias is required in order to attend this course.
The class participant will be able to:
- Identify the features of a normal 12-Lead EKG
- Determine the mean QRS axis in a 12-Lead EKG
- State the causes of right and left axis deviation
- Describe the changes in the EKG associated with myocardial ischemia, injury and infarct and identify which area of the heart is involved
- Describe changes associated with pericarditis and ventricular aneurysm.
- Identify changes seen with atrial and ventricular hypertrophy
- Identify features of the EKG seen with Bundle Branch Blocks and Fascicular Blacks
- Describe changes in the EKG seen with electrolyte abnormalities

Evaluation
Continuing Nursing Education Credit: 6.5 continuing nursing education contact hours will be awarded to participants who attend the course in its entirety and complete an evaluation.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:
Your tuition minus an $10.00 processing will be refunded if notified in writing 7 days prior to the course. There will be no tuition refunds granted after this date for non-attendance.
University of Colorado Hospital reserves the right to cancel an offering at any time. Should this happen, a full refund will be made. Tuition cannot be transferred to another course.
