This week-long event offers three 2-day courses to provide clinical registered nurses the opportunity to prepare for the PCCN, CCRN and Medical Surgical Review exams.

Continuing Nursing Education Credit:
PCCN: 15.0 Contact hours.
CCRN: 15.0 Contact hours.
MEDICAL SURGICAL: 14.5 Contact hours.
Contact hours will be awarded to nurses who attend this program in its entirety and complete the course evaluation.
University of Colorado Hospital is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited provider by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
CCRN Review Course Description and Objectives
This two day intense critical care review course is intended for nurses who are planning to take the AACN-CCRN certification exam or as a clinical practice review seminar. By the completion of this two day intense course the nurse will be able to:
- Identify the common critical care needs of patients with single and multi-system organ abnormalities.
- Outline assessment strategies and treatment options for common critical care problems.
- Review the pathophysiology for single and multi-system dysfunction and discuss the pharmacological management for each.
- Describe the AACN synergy model of caring and blueprint for the CCRN certification exam.
PCCN Review Course Description and Objectives
This two day intense acute care review course is intended for nurses who are planning to take the AACN-PCCN certification exam. By the completion of this two day intense course the nurse will be able to:
- Identify the common acute care needs of patients with single and multi system organ abnormalities in the step-down and telemetry units (progressive care units).
- Outline assessment strategies and treatment options for common progressive care problems.
- Review the pathophysiology for single and multi-system dysfunction and discuss the pharmacological management for each.
- Describe the AACN synergy model of caring and the blueprint for the PCCN certification exam.
Medical/Surgical Review Course Description and Objectives
The purpose of this course is to provide clinical registered nurses the opportunity to prepare for the medical surgical certification exam. By the completion of this two day intense course the nurse will be able to:
- Identify common cardiovascular complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Identify common Neurological complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Identify common Musculoskeletal complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Identify common Integumentary complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Identify common Renal complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Outline the professional practice role aspects of med/surg nursing.
- Identify common Respiratory complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Identify common Hematologic complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Identify common Endocrine complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Identify common Gastrointestinal complications, treatment options and nursing care concerns.
- Discuss five core concepts of holistic med/surg nursing care of the adult.
