Introduction to High Fidelity Simulation in Healthcare
The purpose of this course is to introduce the healthcare educator to the basic principles of “immersive” simulation training. This 3-hour course will provide a “snapshot” into all aspects of high fidelity simulation, including history of simulation, learning theory, simulation resources, scenario writing, technical considerations, creating reality, and debriefing.
- Describe clinical simulation and its increasing use in healthcare education
- Discuss 3 advantages of using simulation as a learning methodology
- Define and discuss 4 categories of simulators
- Discuss the 3 types of simulation fidelity
- Discuss 6 key components of clinical simulation
- Discuss 3 learning theories and their application to simulation
- Discuss methods to enhance the simulation experience
- List two available simulation resources, including journals and professional resources
Continuing Nursing Education Credit:
2.75 continuing nursing education contact hours have been applied for and will be available to those who attend this program in its entirety and complete an online evaluation. Partial CE will NOT be awarded.

This event will be held at the WELLS Center, 1999 N. Fitzsimmons Parkway Suite 180, Aurora, CO 80045. Parking is available at the WELLS Center.
Directions to the WELLS Center during Construction:
The WELLS Center is located on the southwest corner of Montview Boulevard and No. Fitzsimons Parkway (entrance to the parking lot is located south of Montview at Wheeling just west of No. Fitzsimons Parkway) in the Bioscience East building in Suite 180. There are temporary directional signs posted to assist with locating the WELLS Center. There is ample, free parking in the building lot.
