Ventricular Assist Device Super User
To provide advanced training/education to the bedside nurses caring for the Ventricular Assist Device Patient. Patients with a VAD have complex care management. This class will further learners knowledge beyond the basics of the equipment to include entire patient management.
- Discuss indications for VAD support, both long term and short term support
- Describe most common alarms
- Identify who to call for a change in patient condition, and the most emergent VAD complications.
- Demonstrate advanced alarm troubleshooting and proper correction
- Discuss common case studies and evaluate what could have been done differently or better
Continuing Nursing Education Credit:
3.5 contact hours will be awarded to nurses who attend this program in its entirety and complete the course evaluation. Partial CE will NOT be awarded.
University of Colorado Hospital is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
