University of Colorado Hospital Hosts Hearts of All Ages Kickoff

Event raises more than $120,000

Aurora, Colo. – University of Colorado Hospital's annual fundraiser got a head start with the kickoff of Hearts of All Ages 2010. This is the third annual Hearts of All Ages event and the proceeds will go toward the expansion of University of Colorado Hospital's Cancer Center.

For 20 years and thousands of patients, University of Colorado Hospital has been the choice, the place of hope, for those diagnosed with cancer. Because of a powerful blend of world-class science, research and clinical care, the demand for treatment at the Cancer Center is now greater than the capacity of the current facility.

Event co-chairs Steve and Shannon Bangert at
the kickoff event.

The kickoff event raised more than $120,000 (compared to $90,000 last year) with the pre-sales of tables and tickets. This year's event will be at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum on Valentine's Day 2010. Last year, 600 people attended Hearts of All Ages.

Co-chair Peter H. Coors says he and his wife, Marilyn, felt mixed emotions about leaving their small children while they went out to celebrate Valentine's Day. He says he always wanted to find a way to spend the day as a family and celebrate together.

Mr. Coors believed his work at University of Colorado Hospital would be an opportunity to come up with a family event and, at the same time, a fundraiser for the hospital. With the help of event co-chair Sharon Magness-Blake, Coors' idea for a family Valentine's Day became a reality and turned into "Hearts of All Ages."
